Unleashing Respect Project update

A few weeks ago, Force Science Review http://www.forcescience.org/fsinews/2011/08/force-science-news-185-cops-not-guilty-in-mistaken-killing-of-child-scan-patterns-oiss-the-lizard-brain/ featured the Lizard Brain video. One provides an overview of the Project philosophy, one an overview of Power4Synergy our engagement / communications system, one provides a cost / benefit analysis of simply combating criminals verses a comprehensive plan borrowed from the US military where one combats the culture that supports criminals. I think this is an important distinction and I agree that influence based policing is superior to policing predicated on the power model.

Chip's bio

Charles "Chip" Huth is a Sergeant with the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department and has 19 years of law enforcement experience. He currently serves as a team leader for the Street Crimes Unit Tactical Enforcement Squad. He has coordinated and executed over 1200 high-risk tactical operations. Chip serves has an adjunct instructor at the KCMOPD Leadership Academy. He is a consultant for the KCPD's Office of General Counsel, the Missouri Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission, and the Missouri Attorney General's Office. In 2010, after serving as a trainer for 16 years, Chip became President of the National Law Enforcement Training Center, a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to delivering effective training to law enforcement, corrections, security and military personnel. Chip is a certified national trainer in defensive tactics, an expert witness in the field of police operations and reasonable force, and a Subject Matter Expert on police use of force. He is a member of the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association and the National Tactical Officers Association. He is the President and CEO of CDH Consulting L.L.C., a law enforcement consulting and training company. Chip has 32 years of experience in the martial arts, with a background in judo and kickboxing. He is a veteran of the United States Army and lives in Kansas City, Missouri with his wife, Krista.

Jack's bio

Jack retired after a nearly 29 year career with a major law enforcement agency in the Kansas City Missouri area. For the last few years his primary task was to assist in the creation of a professional development process known as the “Leadership Academy.” To accomplish this; sound curriculum must be written, ground breaking initiatives must be accomplished, organizational culture must shift, coaching must take place, and enduring partnerships must be built.
